Rotaract is more than just a club. It is a community where young people come together to create change, develop their skills, build meaningful connections and make a difference in society. With the aim of introducing this experience to new students, the Rotaract Club of APIIT organized Rotractive I, an interactive club introduction designed to give students a closer look at what Rotaract is truly about.
The session began with an icebreaker that encouraged new students to step out of their comfort zones, interact with one another and get to know their fellow students. This created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere while allowing participants to build connections from the very beginning. Students also had the opportunity to interact with members of the internal committee which allowed them to get to know the individuals behind the club on a more personal level.
As the session progressed, students were introduced to Rotaract, its purpose and the different avenues through which members can get involved. They gained insight into the opportunities available within the club from community service and fellowship to professional development, public relations and leadership. Students were also given information on how they could become involved in upcoming projects and activities which helped them understand how they could take their first steps into the Rotaract community.
To keep the session engaging and interactive, a Kahoot session was conducted midway through the program. The activity added an element of fun and friendly competition while allowing students to participate actively rather than simply listen to a presentation. It helped create an energetic environment and encouraged further interaction among the participants.
Ultimately, Rotractive I successfully introduced students to Rotaract while giving them an opportunity to connect, interact and discover the possibilities that the club offers. More than just a club introduction, it served as a first step towards building new friendships, exploring opportunities and becoming part of a community driven by service, leadership and growth.
Personally, I was truly happy to see the number of new students who showed up for Rotractive I. Their enthusiasm was a reminder that the younger generation is eager to be part of purposeful activities, meaningful communities and initiatives that allow them to make a difference. Seeing their willingness to connect, participate and learn more about Rotaract made the experience even more meaningful.
As the Membership Director, Rotractive I was especially close to my heart as it was the first project I organized in this role. Seeing all the new students interact, make friends and step into a new community reminded me of my own first day and the excitement of meeting new people and discovering new opportunities. This project gave me the opportunity to interact with so many different individuals, work alongside them and build new friendships along the way. Being able to welcome new faces into the Rotaract community and watch them discover the opportunities available to them was truly fulfilling.
For me, Rotractive I was not simply an introduction to a club. It was the beginning of new connections, new friendships and new possibilities within the Rotaract community and a very special beginning to my journey as Membership Director.
