Project Nadun 5.0 – Service Beyond Boundaries
On 22 August 2026, the Rotaract Club of APIIT joined Project Nadun 5.0 in Kandy, bringing together Rotaractors from several clubs for a meaningful day of service, fellowship, and regional engagement.
As the One of the Directors of Regional Engagement of the Rotaract Club of APIIT, this project was especially meaningful to me because it reflected what regional engagement is truly about; connecting clubs, building friendships, and creating a stronger impact together.
Our journey began in Colombo, where we combined our transportation with the Rotaract Club of Mid Town. The trip itself became part of the experience, filled with conversations, laughter, breakfast, and fellowship. We also made a short stop along the way before continuing towards Kandy.
At NIBM Kandy, we met fellow Rotaractors from NIBM Kandy, Peradeniya, Kandy, Kandy Metropolitan and other participating clubs. Together, we prepared the food packs by packing buns into brown paper bags and organising bottles of water for distribution.
We then divided into groups and walked towards the areas surrounding the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, where the Kandy Perahera had brought together large crowds and many people working behind the scenes.
Throughout the area, we distributed buns and water to municipality cleaning staff, police officers, volunteers, and others helping to keep the streets clean, organised, and safe.
The project reminded us that service does not always have to be something large. Sometimes, a simple meal, a bottle of water, or a word of appreciation can make a meaningful difference.
After completing the distribution, the participating Rotaract Clubs gathered for a collective photograph before beginning the journey back to Colombo.
Project Nadun 5.0 was more than a community service initiative. It was a day of service, fellowship, collaboration, and regional unity, showing us once again how much more we can achieve when Rotaractors come together with one purpose.
